how to change drives from software raid to normal config

Post by kgdrum »

hi i have external esata drives: firmtek/seritek(2x2) i use for audio tracks.
1 pair for tracks and 1 pair for manual backups,I didn't do a mirror because it would slow things down.now in hindsight I feel software raid is a waste of time and asking for trouble down the road.how do i save projects stored in soft ware raid? can I drag to a 3rd drive (single) ,reformat the esata drives and drag back to my reformatted (now 4) drives??sorry if this is a dumb question,I don't want to lose what i already have.thanks in advance
thanks KG

Assuming you've just created a Raid with plain 'ol Apple Utilities and not some 3rd party RAID driver, yes - that's the only way to do it. Drag the data off, then reformat the individual drives.
