Maybe they'll hire the mad scientist instead of us to the concerts. He'll be sitting there on the stage with a macbook in his lap while we're sitting in our studios smashing our instruments and wondering why it doesn't sound right!

and I did my first mix on the best vintage analog Neve board in the southern hemisphere (and most of the northern) of a live gig with real musicians and no sequencers for the first time in years the other day. For the first time in years I heard depth in the music. Separation. Detail. Expression. As amazing as this is it is still just a tool in the kit. It never will be anything more, not even in DP.whatever. Melodyne-I can hear it. It has no soul. But I like it like I like my Leatherman.

WOW, this is big.

I love that "in theory it can't work, in reality it does work".
The inventor Peter N. decides to go for it. Thats some good instinct.

I guess now some will be reinterpreting and reinventing the past. Can copyright laws keep up? What's next? Cloning dead celebrities. Welcome to the future. It's going to get even weirder...

Bugger.
The download won't resume after I reconnect to the 'net; it starts all over.
I only get 4 hour blocks.

Wish me luck - you guys certainly have hyped this thing sufficiently. :?

Bachman Turner Over-driven, Under-tuned. Yeah, you could tune it, but it would still be the same song. Better leave it back in the 70's from whence it came.

How about tuning the vocals on "Box of Rain". They are probably all on one track.

This could open up a lot of possibilities regarding 60's and 70's multi-track stuff where there was much track sharing.

On a related subject, how unusual that they announce it so far in advance of it's release. Along with the push to get more users to buy in. That put up a flag to anybody?

OK, the download now cut itself off prematurely at 11.4 MB.
I know when I'm beat; I give up.

Hopefully following the discussion will suffice, although I'm not sure I'll be able to be of any use to anyone.
Hang on... I'm no use to anyone anyway, besides that Magilla Gorilla as mobile dunny paper

Hopefully there's a shower nearby.

Preslodyne   !!!

If it's reasonable I'll buy. Music is about to get even cheaper I'm afraid. I think I'll remix my album with this.

Unreal. I think Aliens did land in Germany and antigravity exists..... 8)

Yes, good point to remember. It's for individual instrument tracks.

They're showing it at Musikmesse this week - so that confirms, it's not a prank.

I'm the first to say a great performance with an in tune instrument and correct notes is always preferable. And yeah, sometimes you can hear some artifacts in melodyne processing if you've got the bat ears and are really that detail oriented. But for me, that's sort of like pointing out that the difference between two photos of Pam Anderson naked is that she's wearing different earrings in one of the photos. It's not the earrings that I'm looking at.

I've already got a long list going of all the things I want to do with this upcoming version. Not the least of which is some new bitchin' sample libraries.
