Despered second hand user!!!

Post by latinpianoman »

Hello:

I get from a partner a motu 828 original. I have a PC Core 2 Duo; Intel Motherboard (D945gncl);PCI 1394 Firewire card whit TI chipset; 2 gigas Ram (667), and......... nothing....... I dowloaded the last drivers, instaled them at least 30 times. I repared my PC around 5 TIMES (I mind, reinstaled Windows XP). It works the very first time I install (when is comming from the technician`s hand) and the next time I turn on the PC, 828 simple disapear. When I try to install again, my monitor turns blue with a windows warning (abouth memory or something so). I live in Venezuela, and we don`t have MOTU delear here, and (off course) tech support.
Any opinion? , I like very much MOTU`S sound, I wouldn`t change It....

Start by removing the pci firewire card and put it in a different slot.

You have a device or driver conflict.

That is why it works the first time but after that when you reboot it crashes.

If you know how to check in your device manager (Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager) look for yellow question mark next to devices it will tell you what the conflict is.

PCI Card

Sounds like your card is the issue. I had the exact same trouble with my 424 card in a 2408mk2 setup. After trying to resolve all of the IRQ slot conflicts MOTU Tech support said the card was in need of repair. I got an RA# and sent it in and sure enough it was the card. Try talking to tech support about an RA#, they also have on online techlink if you get your product registered as a user who bought it second hand. It cost me $79.95USD to get it fixed, but let me warn you if you don't jump through ALL of the hoops, they won't give you an RA#.

What if you plug your 828 in another computer ?
BTW, install the Motu FW driver BEFORE you plug the 828.

I'm using an intel 945g chipset motherboard with a generic "Dynex" firewire card (purchased from "Worst Buy"). I've never had an issue with my 828mkII and XP pro.

Thanks you all, guys.....I must install Windows XP again.Sound Drivers and Dvd drivers are out.The worst part of this nightmare is I can`t install anythink from Dvd.I`ll replace my motherboard, is on warranty, and I think it could help.
I conected 828 to my laptop and give me some problems, but worked anyway. So, I still thinking the problem is my PC.
I`ll keep you informed all abouth, and (Once more) THANKS..... :D
