Hi all,
Having a bit of bother. I've been trying to import some tracks that are on a TDK CD-R 80min that were recorded on my Pioneer DVD Recorder. A weird static noise randomly fades in and out during playback. This happens when the Mac is playing the CD, when it's imported into DP or iTunes. Commercial CD's are fine. I have tried cleaning the drive with a CD cleaner to no avail.
I have also tried dragging the AIFFs from the CD to the desktop and then importing them and still the problem is there - an interesting point is that to copy the files from the CD to the desktop took over 10 minutes (500mb) which surely is way too long ?
There is no noise when the CD is played on my hifi cd player nor does it happen when played on our iMacs at work. Is the superdrive failing or is it disagreeing with the CD-R's 'speed' somehow ? It's not just one CD that is causing it either.
I'm on the latest updates for Tiger and iTunes.
Any suggestions, as ever, gratefully received.
Nick.
Is my superdrive dying ? Or does it hate CD-R 80's ?!

Thing is the CD's have been burnt realtime on a CD recorder and have been ok in the past. Never had problems with TDK in the past.
