Note where it says "Digital Performer." I'm pretty sure that's where I recorded my content from. Ambrosia is not telling you that it doesn't work. They're only telling you that they don't give Tech Support for anything but the Mac system. Everything else is your problem to figure out. It worked fine for me. All I can say is... "figure it out!" I don't mean that in a rude or flippant way; it's just the truth. I did it first try. I'm sure you'll figure it out if you try some things.
[Edit: I should have checked first... I just tried it again set the same way, and this time I got nothing. I'll see what I can come up with.]

After further checking, I found that Wiretap Studio is recognizing any outputs in DP EXCEPT the PCI-424. I'm not sure why that is happening. What this means, of course, is that if you want to record DP with Wiretap, and if you must use your PCI-424, then you will need to enable another hardware device in DP, such as internal or your desktop computer speakers, or an 896 or 828, and in DP you'll need to run a bus to another Aux with an output for that device. Then Wiretap will pick it up. I don't have any idea why it's not picking up the 424 card, but that's not a deal-killer. You can easily output to the Mac Audio for the purpose of recording to Wiretap.

I'm not sure if it makes any difference, but I set the top input menu to DP, and leave the lower one blank, and it works perfectly. It's such a simple setup, that beyond the bleedin' obvious, I'm not sure how you'd go about screwing it up. I'm sure there's a logical reason it's not working for you, but I'm danged if I can think what it is. If it works for me, then it's capable of working for anyone. It can only be something to do with the setup. One thing I did note, however, is that although my 828 MKII appears in the input menu, Wiretap doesn't seem to be seeing it. Maybe that's the disclaimer mentioned earlier. But it works fine when you just set it to DP - so who cares, as long as it works.
Hope you sort it out - it's worth it.

Well - I guess you guys are just experts. I am a music pro and run lots of gear and systems. If it was obvious I would have figured it out. I appreciate the help but don't need the "just figure it out dude" stuff.
It "does not" work with a PCI424 card on my system and I have tried all configs. It is a pain to switch the outputs of a mix to another device when I have lots of tracks and some are set to a device and others are set to busses. That is why wiretap appealed to me cause I could just run off a mix easily and continue. If I have to change all outputs then I might as well just record it in DP and save the $60.
Shooshie - thanks for checking on your system.

Sorry, oort. I liked Wiretap because it was just so easy. Apparently the way I had DP setup was just an easy hit for Wiretap. I didn't know what else to tell you. It was either you or me figuring it out, and I didn't have the problem.
Out of curiosity, I tried it with only the 424 card enabled, and it would not recognize it at all. So, maybe it's a PCI-424 thing. Beats me. But it's not a problem for me, since it recognizes all my other interfaces. Sorry it's not working for you.

Definitely doesn't work with my audio interface (via my PCI-424 card) so that may indeed be the problem.Shooshie wrote:...I tried it with only the 424 card enabled, and it would not recognize it at all. So, maybe it's a PCI-424 thing.
Once again, Audio Hijack does NOT have this issue, so that may be your solution Oort!

At risk of laboring the point, and please correct me if I'm wrong, it shouldn't matter if you have DP running through a PCI-424 or your mom's washing machine - because if the input to WTP is set to Digital Performer, it's inputting directly from DP (like bounce-to-disk), not the outboard device. But then, what do I know? Just a thought.OortNYC wrote: It "does not" work with a PCI424 card on my system and I have tried all configs.

I agree. It should work that way, and I tried a lot of different tests to get it to accomplish this, but I was unsuccessful. Something is not communicating properly with something somewhere.chamelion wrote:At risk of laboring the point, and please correct me if I'm wrong, it shouldn't matter if you have DP running through a PCI-424 or your mom's washing machine - because if the input to WTP is set to Digital Performer, it's inputting directly from DP (like bounce-to-disk), not the outboard device. I contacted support and told them it would be good if they supported PCI audio cards.
This was the reply.
So - it's a known issue and they're working on it.

Just an FYI, we are working to make this happen. The problem is that everybody makes their own driver software MOTU, M-Audio, Eidrol, etc. Each one is different, and often models from the same company differ. It is a daunting task, but we are working on it.

The thing that puzzles me is why Audio Hijack can do this without a problem? Did Rogue Amoeba tackle this daunting task... or did they just do their programming in a way that does not exclude PCI cards?
FWIW, the earlier version of WireTap (before they released this new Pro/Studio version, which I believe was rebuilt from the ground up) also would not work with my PCI 424 card. You'd think they would have resolved this issue before releasing the new product. I'm sure they have lost A LOT of business to Audio Hijack for this oversight... not to mention the frustration of prospective customers.
