I can't get logic pro 8 to record MIDI from my korg 01/w. I know that MIDI is being sent from the korg.
Is there a test to let me know that MIDI is being sent from the ultralight?
I connected the MIDI out of the korg to the MIDI in of the ultra...I then connected the MIDI out of the ultra back to the korg, but the korg did not respond. Is this a valid test?
Any suggestions on how to get this running?
Clue: when i try to record MIDI from the korg, logic only records the metronome.
this is driving me craziodistic.

First, make sure that the O1/W's local control setting is turned off.
You can test MIDI ports and devices in the MIDI Devices section of Audio MIDI Setup. In there you should see an icon for the UltraLite that has one input and one output. Add a new external device by clicking the Add Device button, and connect that new device icon to the UltraLite icon (both input and output). Then click Test Setup, and then click on the new device icon. Each time you do that, a cluster of MIDI notes will be transmitted from the UltraLite's MIDI output. If the O1/W is configured properly, you should hear it respond to the notes.
You'll notice that the UltraLite's indicates that it has received or transmitted a MIDI message by flashing a small "m" on the Meter screen. The top row "m" indicates MIDI input, and the bottom row "m" indicates MIDI output.

1nputOutput...thanks...
#1 I did the Test Setup but did not hear a cluster of notes only a single "ping"
#2 I did not see any "m" on the ultralight. Are you sure about this one? I looked in the ultra's manual and there is no mention of the m...however, this would be very cool.
I know that MIDI is being sent from korg. and yes, the 01/w's local is off.

1nputOutput please disregard my previous post. the korg was not configured properly.
Yes, i did the test and a cluster of notes did play...so thank you so much!! At least now i know that logic can communicate through the ultra to the korg.
And I saw the m!!!
You've been extremely helpful!!!
Therefore, I now conclude that the reason logic won't respond to the korg is something I'm doing (or not doing) in logic. At least now i know where to focus...
again...thanks.
