Long Shot: Trade Cubase 4 for DP 5?

Post by CombatWombat »

This has got to be quite the long shot, but I guess I'll ask anyways since it can't hurt.

I have Cubase 4, which I acquired just before beginning a series of audio classes at my university. However, the class will be taught almost exclusively using DP5.

What are the odds that anyone here would be interested in trading their DP5 for my Cubase 4?

1st off you can't trade a authorized/registered version of DP there are things called license agreements, as well as you are on a pc from your sig
people on this board do not condone cracks, pirated versions of software etc.....

I don't know... maybe if you're both trading real versions and willing to transfer licenses, a trade is just another form of renumeration, isn't it? Thing is, you're better off trying to do that over at a Cubase-oriented board I would think. Not likely many here would give up their legitimate DP in order to become a Cubase user.

You could qualify however for a competitive upgrade price. You might call MOTU and see what your options are.

Check out the competitive crossgrade price for DP. That's how I 'crossed over'. AND they let me keep my copy of Cubase, which comes in handy for opening old projects etc.

Thanks for the advice. I will check out the cross grade deal. Maybe I can buy it with the cross grade and then sell Cubase if they allow me to keep it...

I don't know where the "cracked software" comment came from. I have a legitimate version - software, manuals, dongle and everything. I am on a Mac now. I have not updated my signature here as I don't post often. Cubase is cross-platform.

Anyway, I will continue my search elsewhere and my offer here still stands, though, as I stated at the beginning and others have confirmed, it is quite a long shot.

Cheers,
Tyler

The crossgrade is your best way to get your hands on DP.

I have two copies of Cubase for the Mac myself. Legitimate licenses both. They're in the back of a drawer. :)

Kind regards.

I agree with you. I myself never interpreted your post as applying to anything but a legit copyof Cubase.

I did not assume you had a cracked copy either. I just knew that no one would trade for that program. We are sold on DP here. As you said, youknew it would be a "long shot". Cross grade is the way to go. then you can have the best of both worlds.

Good luck with it!

I am sorry if i jumped to conclusions on the original poster wanting to trade software................ but after reading and rereading the license agreement it states rights are for original purchaser only, exceptions must be granted in writing by Motu so I agree cross grade is the best option
