dead outputs on 2 896HD
I recently used my 2x896 HDs on a european tour and in the last city I got some problems with dead outputs on both machines.....3 on the first one and 1 on the other....I know I will have to send them back to motu for repair but what I can't figure out is what could have caused this? I was told maybe I inadvertently switched on the phantom power on the M7CL board but that was ruled out , I was also told it is not unusual to zap motu outputs with just static???
Any thoughts???
The funny thing here is that I can see modulation from 3 of the outs but there's no audio ??? all other outputs are fine.........and I was able to do the show with an aggregate device of the 2 units.......
thanks
Ray

I've had this problem and it came from a dead opamp at the entrance of the channel preamp. For me it was caused by plugging a 1/4 Jack when Phantom pwr was on.

I never used the inputs ..only the outputs, so unless I was sending 48V from the M7Cl (which I wasn't) plus the problem occurred on 2 different 896s.
Did you get yours repaired at MOTU or did you find a repair shop in MTL???
Thanks
