NOTE - EDITS TO PRICERS ETC MADE IN BOLD

Yeah, it's a great deal

Basically the offer takes into account IK's current-buy-one-get-one-free deal.

So for $199 (now $179) (actually it's $224 with the $25 handling fee, even with a digital download) ($25 fee now only applies to EU and Japan) they are offering the following:

Amplitube Jimi Hendrix
Ampltube X-Gear
Ampeg SVX - Uno (an ultra, ultra cut down version of SVX)

...... then when you register your JHX with IK you will be entitled to get free version of either

- AmpliTube 2
- AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix (obviously not as you have it)
- Ampeg SVX
- CSR - Classik Studio Reverb
- T-Racks

However the focus of this deal apart from the savings is on X-gear combined with AT2 + JHX and some unique presets for that combo which will only available to group buyers.

Basically (as I understand it) X-gear allows you to use (ie route the signal through) any amp/stomp/cab etc combination from any 'amplitube' product and of course save the set ups as presets. This is actually pretty cool.

The presets available to group buyers will combine modules from Amplitube 2 and Jimi Hendrix (so you need both) and are supposed to give a whole bunch of famous famous vintage 'signature' tones ......

I think I will be going for this - I have Amplitube LIVE already - if I get AT2 and JHX I can combine them all using X- gear and make one uber guitar monster plug in ! :D As a 'non - guitarist' who plays an awful lot of guitar these really are very cool times indeed!

Also I just listened to the JHX audio demos - very impressive !

So sign up and it will be made available once 200 are reached (now it's once 100 are reached) - and more goodies were hinted at if numbers got big....

BTW please figure all the prices/rules for yourself before signing up in case I have got it wrong in any way!

I've got the others-- but wouldn't balk at Hendrix.

...or in my case, a non-guitarist who plays a lot of awful guitar :-).

This is a tempting group buy. Not sure I have the energy/time to do all the math vs. crossgrades I'm already eligible for. But my guess would be that almost anyone would come out ahead in this deal, unless they have it all.

I have Guitar Rig 3 and Amplitube 2 (as well as the IK Hendrix and Ampeg SVX sims).
The effects in GR3 are quite good and can get very weird if you want. There are those new amps in version 3 that really take the quality level up a notch or two. I like it a lot. I think the high-gain stuff might sound better than Amplitube, but I don't use high-gain all that much.
I like Amplitube 2 a lot, too, and tend to use it more often. It just sounds and feels more like an amp in how it responds to playing dynamics to me. The Hendrix edition was sort of an impulse buy, because I got a good deal on it, but I'm finding a lot to like in there. The vintage sounds are really good, and I'm anxious to get the X-Gear thing that IK is supposed to release soon, so I can combine any of my IK guitar amps, cabs, mics, effects, etc.
If you're really interested in any of the IK emulations, I'd recommend the demos, which run full-featured for 14 days (I think it's 14 days, anyway). The demo versions are what sold them for me.
I'm not too sure about the grammar in that last sentence...

edit: I forgot to add that, for IK, the demo *is* the software. It can be authorized to run normally once you buy it without having to do any uninstalls and/or re-installs.

And how about processor load...
How does IK compare to Gt Rig on processor drain?

One thing that's nice about AT2 and SVX is that you can turn off "High Resolution" mode while tracking to get a lower CPU hit (but with an informatively similar sound), and then turn it back on when it's time to print to an audio track.

I don't know whether GR3 has a similar feature or what it's CPU hit is like; never used it.

I know that GR2 has a "high resolution" mode that can be toggled on/off, so I'm pretty sure GR3 has it also. But the tone is noticeably better in high resolution mode, so I use hi-res exclusively. It seems that most of the better amp sims are processor hogs.
