Perhaps not exactly unexpected after hearing of all the issues with MOTU hd/sw, but ...
Bought a new Ultralite for the portability.
Installer CD has the latest drivers etc.
Installed everything, restarted and Audiodesk doesn't see the Ultralite,
nor does any other software. Motu Audio Setup doesn't even launch.
macbook pro 2.16
running 10.4.8
ultralite is powered up (firewire - tried several cables just in case.
Motu MIDI Driver.kext 1.3.1
MOTUFireWireAudio.kext 1.4.6
Any ideas?
Thanks.

i'm new here (actually just bought my ultralite 2 days ago) but i'm using mine with an imac 24" 2.8ghz and it works fine with all software i've tried (Tracktion 3, AudioDesk, Riffworks, and general Mac audio.) my install disk did not have the latest driver, my firmware was not current and AudioDesk needed to be updated as well. re-check all of the above and see if that helps.
the only problem that i've had so far is on wake-up after Sleep Mode--i have to Restart the Device or close/re-open the DAW software to get the output working again.

I actually got it to work by deinstalling and reinstalling the software.
I reversed the order of some of the packages installed and then it just worked.
The sleep issue is a common problem with firewire devices in particular.
Also noticed that if it powered via fw (on a MBP) there is noise
on the output --- this is an Apple issue also.
Related to above - if audio is also routed via the built-in audio
into the ultralite (or any other interface, fw or usb) while it is
connected to the computer, all kinds of noise is introduced.
The MBP is just pitiful. A G4 PB is crystal clear under all of those circumstances. Apple doesn't even recognize the problem.
