Ultralite not recognized on PC

Post by boleon »

Hi everyone, first post for me here.

I bought an Ultralite and am trying to get it to work on my XP machine.

I have XP SP2, Asus P4P800 Deluxe motherboard, a TI chipset firewire PCI card.

I have installed the latest MOTU drivers but when connecting the Ultralite it would power up but XP will totally ignore it as if I didn't connect anything.

the driver installation went smoothly.

I've tried switching PCI slots for the Firewire card, I've tried switching Firewire cables, tried the SidSpeed update, but got nothing.
I know for a fact that the unit is fully working as I've tried it on a Mac and it worked fine.

I've tried contacting the MOTU tech support but got no reply.

I know that this issue has been brough up many times but I couldn't find a solution.

Please help, and thanks for reading.

After a thorough examination it seems that my Ultralite seems to be defective.

Anyone knows where I can get it checked and repaired?

How exactly did you determine this?

If you have the wrong firmware on your ultralite (say running 64 bit in a 32 bit os) it will not appear.

I have had a couple of times when my laptop was off the wallwart and the motu would not show up, but thats because my firewire port is only 4 pin and I must run the ultralite on its own power, a few times the firewire cord needed to be "tweaked" a little or it did not show up.

Hi Mate

Ive had similar problems. Is your Ultralite connected via Power & Firewire.

When my pc refuses to see the ultralite, ill uninstall everything i can find, then make sure the ultralite is not just powered off, but disconnected from the firewire and the power.

Then when reconnecting it, reconnect it to the other firewire port on the ultralite.

It seems when i do this, the pc with find it and start installing the drivers.

Hope this helps mate, i feel your pain....
