MOTU 828mkII and Windows XP SP2 on Dell Inspiron 6400

Post by dkalna »

Hi there,

yesterday I finaly got my new MOTU 828mkII USB interface. Just want to tell you I'm very happy till now with that. I use Cubase Studio 4.1.2 and everything work just fine. With 512 Buffersize there are no pops or crackles, preamp sounds with my guitar just great. Today I wil test my Mics. I was little bit confused with on-board mixing vs. mixing in cubase but I understand it now. Again, very happy!!! :D :D :D

Ok then, first (problem) question:

MIDI is way too slow. Am I missing something in setup?
I have my Yamaha MO6 connected to MOTU 828mkII.
Even changing of bank or sound needs about 1 minute.

I forgot to mention that MIDI IN LED is always ON (when MO6
is ON as well). Is that correct? Should it flesh only when there
is MIDI Data comming from Yamaha MO6?

Previously I had MO6 connected to Notebook via USB, and that
was fast enough. I tought, MOTU would perform even better.

Any ideas?

Hi people,

don't look any further! Mystery is gone!!!

I have installed newest driver from MOTU, which is supposed to
be for Windows Vista 32-bit (but as stated it should work on XP Systems as well). I made factory reset on MO6 as well, just to make sure. And guess what? Out of the sudden, it works!!!

So thank you guys for your help and patience with me.

Best regards,
