Euphonix MC Mix - what am I missing?

Here's where to talk about preamps, cables, microphones, monitors, etc.

Euphonix MC Mix - what am I missing?

Post by Resonant Alien »

OK, it is an extremely nice looking control surface, beautiful even, but I'm not really getting it.....$1000 for 8 faders, 8 knobs, mute/solo buttons? No transport controls. Why so much? The Mackie Control may not look as sleek and sexy, but you get a whole lot more bang for the buck! If I am missing something, please educate me.

because it extends the MC Control unit or something like that. euphonix wants you to buy the 1500usd section that has transport and a touch screen, plus additional 8 fader modules. that being said, i saw a video where a guy from euphonix used just the 8 fader unit to control transport. it just doesnt have dedicated buttons. you have to assign them or use a shift operator.
why would i want to skin a cat?

Hey guys, I had a chance to play with this recently and I am quite thrilled by it (I am getting one). I'm going to be writing an in-depth preview on it shortly, but I'll try to write something quick tomorrow to answer your question.
Thank you,

You are paying for the massive boost in speed. I have always been so disappointed to return to my Mackie Control after working on a ProControl or an Icon. Ethernet is so much more responsive than MIDI.

So I have great hopes for the Euphonix. Will also report when mine turns up.

Kind regards

Okay, just got a message from Euphonix that these ARE SHIPPING! I've played with one and I must say it's freaking cool! The feel is smoothe and responsive, compact yet it doesn't feel crowded. The speed is amazing as it's a direct connection into the software. It really feels like an extension of the software and not just "a controller".
Thank you,

Hey Brad, did you get your hand in an MC Control as well? ( I know it's not "shipping" yet)

I really think it's the controller I need ( I use DP, Logic and final cut express on a daily basis) but I'm the kinda guy that really like to try before I buy any stuff and the canadian reseller is not willing to send any demo in Montreal... I guess I'm gonna have to rely on the opinion of those who tried it!
