DP with G5/2.5 Dual

Post by zonamusic »

Two Questions:
1. What is the best version of DP to use with a G5/Dual 2.5 if I need to use Tiger (also use this computer with Premiere, which is not compatible with Leopard).

2. How well will it run with adequate ram?

I'm using a G5 dual 2.3 and I'm happily running Mac OS 10.4.11 and DP 5.13

"2. How well will it run with adequate ram?"

that's kind of a subjective quesition...it'll run really well with "adequate ram" and really poorly with "inadequate ram". for me, I'm running 4GB and I've never seen a ram issue. but then, I run tons of MIDI and minimal audio/pulgs. ram is *super* cheap right now and you could probably do an 8GB ram machine for about $250.

same here 4.5gb ram
It's a little slow with many VI's but increase buffers get you through pretty well. I have one tune that needs 4x 1024. hehe

I'd go with 10.4.8 and DP5.11.

Mac 2012 12C Cheese Grater, OSX 10.13.6
MOTU DP8.07, MachFive 3.2.1, MIDI Express XT, 24I/O
Novation, Yamaha & Roland Synths, Guitar & Bass, Kemper Rack
