I've been thinking about joining the club as well. I've been doing some research, and trying to figure out the way to get the best bang for the buck.

From what I gather, I'll need 2 cards. Can't be running out of processing power. I was eyeing the Extreme. (I like to have it all)...but I'm not sure what to get for the second card. 2 Extreme cards seems...well a little Extreme! Or do I get the Nevana, and add a bunch of the Extreme plugs? Just curious what combinations are working for all of you.

Thanks for the input in advance....

Welcome to UAD world! I'm glad you finally got to experience the bliss that is the LA2A. That is my favorite plug from any company period (and I have a lot of plugs, including Waves Diamond, etc). I adore the LA2A with all my heart (sorry for bearing anything personal there...). It really is such a great compressor for vocals.
Is that the same LA2A DP6 will include?? If so, I wonder how they'll compare to each other.

Because of the distortion thread I wrote, I was recommended to check this UAD stuff out... man, I SHOULD NOT HAVE done that. Now I want EVERYTHING!!

Those Neve and Pultec plugs seem stupid good. I wonder, how good these cards and plugs play with DP??
I keep hearing people using these brand of plugs SWEAR by them. Are they really THAT good? How do they compare to Waves' equivalents (if any)??

ALL of the UAD cards are the same with either the PCI or PCIe connectors on them as the only difference. So really, the second card or more you buy should be the flexi pak or the lowest one with the bare card. It is the same card.

The different packs are just what bundled plugs are authorized out of the box. Buying two extreme packs really amounts to spending money on two copies of plugs that you already own. All the plugs you buy are already authorized for up to 4 cards on one system.

Yes...the larger packs come with coupons to buy a certain dollar amount of plugs from their online shop...but if you just buy the plugs separately, it is about the same price as buying the bare card and more plugs as you need them. And with all the monthly online coupons UA keeps sending out...you will continue to get good deals on plug-ins over time.
Regards,

Brian Ralston

James you already have plate reverbs that are awesome with the CSR...

Go for the LA2A or if you want killer drums the SPL transient plug...

but the LA2A is a must...

Thanks Brian!

That is what I was unclear about. For some reason, I had a hard time finding that info. Going to join the club and order an Extreme and a Express probably tomorrow!!!!

James, as a guitar player I'd also recommend the UAD-1 Roland Chorus. It's actually quite good and better/different sounding than a lot of other chorus plugins I've heard. Cheap too.
Success is just one more plugin away! And happiness is as close as your next upgrade.

Oh James by the way they are always running specials. Right now they have a extre 20$ special until the end of January. During December they dropped stuff about 40% that was what sucked me into getting one. I am bummed I waited so long.

With DP 6 and the new verb coming out you may want to wait on getting the UAD plate even though it is killer...

In a nutshell... YES! Of course, that's coming from someone who's been using UAD plugs now for about one week, so take it for what it's worth. I'm simply astounded at the quality of some of these plugs....

I don't have Waves, so I can't really comment on that, but the plugs offered by UA cover just about all of my needs with regards to signal processing, with the exception of convolution reverb... and DP 6 should have that covered! I've got TLSpace, but that's RTAS only. One advantage to going Waves though would be portability of course: an iLok can fit in your pocket, but stuffing a Magma Chassis down there would be rather uncomfortable I'd imagine.

No matter. I'm happy. I don't really need the portability. Plus I find UA to be a much hipper company. Something about Waves disturbs me. Anyway, probably best not to get started on that.

I will probably use my two $150 vouchers to get the Precision Multiband. That should satisfy my Waves C4 envy.

I'm RIGHT with ya PHIL on that! Great aux combo for VOX!

A Great UAD Deal

Post by lueds00 »

I Just purchase my second UAD-1e Expert Pak at GC (ask for a "pro" discount, it was $650 out the door).

Until March 31st, UA is having a "Neve March Madnesss" sale with 15% off. A UAD $150 Promotion on any UAD-1, UAD-1e, or Xpander.
A "M.I.P.A. Thank You" for $25.
Plus a $750 voucher that comes standard with the Expert Pak.

Neve Classic Console Bundle $90
UAD Promotion $150
M.I.P.A. Thank You $25
Voucher $750
Total UAD Credit $1015

This is a great deal for all of your mixdown goodness!javascript:emoticon(':D')

I still have about $400 dollar in credit left... Any suggestions on how I might spend that?
