896HD - nothing in the main outs/meters but headphones play

Any ideas? I'm hoping this is a software problem and not a hardware one...

Nothing showing in the meters on the main outs, but the headphones work fine.

What program/DAW are you using? In the cuemix you need to set the output to Main to hear the inputs but, in your DAW/firewire console you need to assign the main out as the main out! In WMP you set that in the control panel as your main outs. Hope that helps.
