audio firewire

well i'm about done with my m-audio firewire solo. can anyone recommend something with better sound quality that is not too expensive? maybe an older motu unit? i dont need a lot of ins/outs, its just for a small home studio

I would check out the 8pre and the ultralite, even a used 828mkii is a good choice...I am using one and love it, good sound quality and very stable for me.

What exactly are you recording? How many i/o's do you need? What was it about the M-Audio you didn't care for?

there is seriously something wrong with the m-audio piece. when i first play something back on it it stutters (sound goes in and out). i have downloaded the latest drivers and this does not help. it is seriously defective. i only need a few ins/outs. looking for something small. i wish motu made something similar.
