Snapper 100-day demo is now available!!

AudioEase has a new product which you will all want to try out... and you can use a fully functional demo, for free, for 100 days:

My recommendation is that after watching the 100 second tour, that you watch the additional 3 mini-videos which you will see on your left hand side. They will reveal a bunch of useful Snapper preferences and options, so that you will have a great overview of what under the hood, and how you can customize it easily.

Fantastic product. I am already putting it to good use!

Thanks for the heads up. I've been waiting for this thing for ages it seems. Might take the place of AudioFinder for me, although I really appreciate the guy at Iced Audio.

The 100 day demo is generous, too.

If you find some serious good reasons to go from AudioFinder to Snapper, let us know please.

BTW, I'm very pleased with AudioFinder yet.

Well, I think the biggest reason for me possibly using Snapper instead of AF is its more transparent integration with the Finder and smaller footprint. When I first started using AF a couple years ago, it didn't do exactly what I wanted (work with the Finder). Now, it has the Finder selection thingy, but I find it too be a bit cumbersome. Plus, it just has way more features than I need in an audio browser. I already have an audio editor.

I will still use AF for some tasks, but for browsing and quick editing in the Finder, Snapper seems to have the edge.

Snapper? Brought to you by the same people who built VSTWrapper to enable Digital Performer users get access to VST plug-ins. Who, despite the fact that this year is the Intel Mac's third birthday, still haven't got around to building us a UB version.

Strangely enough, VSTWrapper is actually the same price as AudioFinder.

Snapper? Eh, no.

Hmmmmm. Well I am ashamed to say that I didn't even know about the existence of AudioFinder before today. I could have used that knowledge for the past couple of years, for sure.

But Snapper is really giving me a tickle.

Just out of curiosity, does AudioFinder allow you to make a selection within a sound file and then just drag it into a Finder folder or window to create a new file with only that selection? That is such an incredibly useful Snapper function. I am going to be building all sort of reference files for good drum rolls, instrument reverbs, and whatever else I will want to quickly reference when I am creating mixes.

No doubt, but its usefulness depends as always on the user's needs. I like AF a lot, have sung its praises to others and convinced them to buy it. It has been invaluable for me, but, as I said in the previous post, it seems a bit less transparent and streamlined as a quick audio browser than Snapper. I don't always need all the bells and whistles of AF when I want to quickly audition a sample. In fact, I find they often get in the way. The newer redesign bugs me too, with its split browser window.

That said, I will still use AF for searching and some processing. Who knows. I might even end up not liking Snapper. But, if it does what I think it will the way I think it will, I don't see any reason why I can't use both. Need will dictate.

Yes.

The Audio unit manager is also pretty handy

Didn't see a way to audition at various pitches as Audio Finder can. For the price, I'll stick to audio finder as well. Kind of hard to beat...

i'm an audiofinderphile too!

it's just added the highlight selection and drag just that bit into DP which is great....

I looked at snapper - and while I guess it's got some attractive features - I can already do all that and more - and I've bought AF 3 times now as it's been soooo important to my workflow!

Also seems to be geared towards protools - I heard the phrase "so easy to snap to your PT cursor about 4 times... - so no drag and drop into DP?

also iced audio really does listen to you - and that's important to me - I've found that good suggestions are implemented...

You can do that with the playback speed button. Not as nice (or extensive) as AF, but it does go in semi-tone increments with the button's up/down arrows.
