For lyrics or notes on each track? I would love to have that!!grimepoch wrote: I still think they need 2 lines of text at the bottom of the mixer for each track. I did email them this suggestion.

I agree, there is plenty of space to go to 2 or 3 lines of text.grimepoch wrote: Also, I think the UI looks bad ass!My only complaint, I still think they need 2 lines of text at the bottom of the mixer for each track. I did email them this suggestion.
I also hope these pictures of the transport controls are not the final, as it looks just as oversized and even more poorly laid out than the current transport which takes way to much vertical screen real estate.
While I like DP's overall interface and routing concept, to me the graphic design always looks about 10 years behind. I don't want to see a bunch of cheesy colors but some style and texture would be nice.
I think the features I like most about DP6 are the added convolution reverb and the "takes" comping feature.

Regarding the Play, stop, rewind buttons... they could just make them disappear, for all I care. I don't think I've EVER actually clicked on them with the mouse. I mean, who does??
Now, please tell me. Am I blind, or why can't I see the event info bar (at the top of the SE)?? Did they FINALLY get rid of it and they'll show the info RIGHT there, next to the cursor??
I'm PRAYING for that!!

It looks like they put that info in the consolidated window sidebar. Still not next to the cursor, but easier to read nonetheless.FMiguelez wrote:Now, please tell me. That's what I thought. You mean the one that reads Cursor Info, right? It looks empty. It doesn't show the cursor info in that picture, maybe because they have opened a menu. But it definitely will be easier to read there than all the way up with those tinny fonts. A step in the right direction, but still, why would you want to take your eyes off where you are editing to see the numbers (if you're trying to edit precise values)?blue wrote:It looks like they put that info in the consolidated window sidebar. I hadn't been so excited about a new DAW for a long time. I NEED this upgrade. NOW.

Well, yeah. We all work differently, after all. I didn't mean that in a bad way, though. It came out a little blunt.Timeline wrote:I do

Is the counter (not the one in the transport but the stand alone one scaleable? I think I will click on the play button today just to say I do.
I like the looks of the comp thing; I may even start doing comps now. I have been looking at all the videos on the net I could find.
My prediction we all jump on DP6 and nothing but glowing are reports are posted here at the Nation. Time goes by and out come the bugs, the updates, the OSX gets updated and F's something up. Finally it all works well but Waves is not working well. A topic is started on what we want in DP 7.

I regularly mix movies in 5.1 with DP, for a living. 90 tracks of audio, plug-ins galore, lots of multichannel busses, automation all over the place. What exactly do you find missing? Seemingly respective of nothing you mention the Apogee Symphony and PT HD.bradswan wrote:All of DP 6's new features look just great. But there's a reason that PT and logic Pro have DSP options that greatly enhance the track count and processing capabilities regardless of what mac you're using. I love working in DP, but the more I work in Logic Pro and PT on full production CD, film and TV projects, I realize how wonderful and necessary it is to have mucho processing at your finger tips.
That's why Apogee came up with the symphony card and PT has it's HD format. But simply put DP is a much less efficient DAW. I wish, wish, wish, it wasn't so, but it is.
If DP 6 was saying we got a new kick ass code check it out I would be singing their praises, now I'm wondering how much CPU it's gonna take to power all these new features.
Is there anyone else out there in the same dilemma?
I use a MOTU HD192 for the film projects I do. What are you saying? Do you find either of those other interfaces more professional than a MOTU system? If so, in what way? I regularly do things in DP that leave my PT counterparts wondering "how did you do that so fast?"
dp6 seems like an amazing upgrade to an already amazing set of tools. I've been at NAMM for three days now, and have seen Magic Dave's demo a half dozen times. I learn something new about dp6 every time I see the demo.
All the best,
Jim

Yep, for sure - they're pretty hopeless. Maybe with DP 6 it would be a good time to kick Waves to the kerb. It will have to be covered by Waves 6, but I would be amazed if they have compatibility ready before say Sept '08.Phil O wrote:So, um. Now that DP6 is coming out, do you all think it will take Waves another two years to catch up? Hell, they should have the final release of the DP5 compatible version out by year's end, don't you think?

What? I think FCP and DP are the only ones that actually follow the omf spec.Phil Jeffers wrote:Hallelujah - it's about blooming time! I hope they finally fix OMF/AAF import/export as well...DP 6 will also include support for Broadcast WAV files
I do this type of transfer very often.
I have made good money opening omf files (from a third party) in DP that couldn't be opened in PT, then re-exporting them as omf files that could be opened in PT.
Of course all this was done without spending the EXTRA $500 that Digi charges for DigiTranslator, because DP has omf import/export BUILT-IN.

DP6 is the Dopest
DP6 cant be beat, the interface is dope again, and i'm excited to get my hands on it, i'm repeating myself clean, fresh futuristic interface, and all the features i've been asking for, the change to the workflow of virtual instruments,no need to do a pass first then bounce big time savers, the HD video support, take comping, disc burning, broadcast wave support, and finalcut intergration, dam i cant wait, we need DP6 now, plus everything else dp already does, DP6 is Number #1, I was a SV & SVP user moved to Dp in 2000ish, with great heartbreak over the loss of SVP "screw gibson" But now i feel like i am lacking nothing, Motu has done a great job, I own Logic Studio and when a daw cant even be put in wait for note mode, im sorry, throw it away, logic sucks to me very ass backwards in a lot of ways, there were some features i did desire or envy in logic but they are now in DP6, i've used almost every daw created and DP cant be beat period.

what the h**!!!?? since when have they done that? That may be legal (I don't believe it is), but it is soooo un-cool.. I know magic dave is not that un-cool.. There must be some serious mojo going on here.... Come on guys, don't break the first rule of rock and roll and get un-cool, let the people's cameras thru!
we need pictures....[/quote
This is complete BS!!! Three days at the show, saw the demo 6 times.
There is NO "MOTU security". I never once saw anyone taking pictures or video being repressed. I seriously doubt the person who posted this was even at the show.

Probably a troll. Every time great new things happen with DP, the place starts crawling with trolls. Wait until it's released. THEN you'll see the trolls.jwfatgruv wrote:This is complete BS!!!
