That seems like a glaring omission.
Ummm... what do you mean?
sorry not more specific.
unified instrument tracks, so one doesn't need a separate MIDI track and an aux (dp calls them instrument) track. Logic was the first, then protools, then cubase. everyone pretty much does it.

Thank you so much for posting those, lwilliam!! The new interface looks fantastic. It is basically just a slicker version of the look and feel that we have already. I'm thrilled! :-)
blue wrote:Also, I wonder why they decided to put In/Out assignments at the top of the mixer rather than at the bottom where the track names are. Now you'll have to follow the fader up from the name and try not to get lost on the way up to see what the assignments are.
Yeah that's a bit strange. Hopefully, there will be the option to move them up or down, just like we can with tracks and chunks.
FMiguelez wrote:Hmmmm. I think I prefer Zed's GUI.
:P
Not so different from Zed's version; just different colors, different shapes, different arrangements of those colors and shapes, and different functions of said arrangements of said shapes and colors. Oh, and different text in different colors and sizes. Other than that they're almost similar!

BTW, the upgrade price will be $199 for those who own EITHER 4.x or 5.x.

He was not sure of the grace period for a free upgrade from 5.x.

(uh, it DID crash when he was demoing Proverb).
Stability is the upgrade I'm waiting for.

It's here! Don't fret DP is the darling of all older composers/mixer/producers - it's here to stay baby!
Ouch.

At least I know I'm in the right place...
I don't follow sorry - bare in mind we are not all American (even though I happen to be an American).
I think weever is referring to the operative word "older" in your quote above. DP is the choice of us older guys, a painful reminder at times of the long road behind us, and that annually incrementing number by which we are so often defined. That number should just be a measure of our experience, but it too often is a measure of our irrelevance in the contemporary entertainment world. Oh well... just more reason why we have to make the leap from entertainment to arts. Art is entertainment by old fogies who are revered as masters of something or other. Perhaps. Or perhaps not. Anyway, weever wasn't referring to place; just the painful reality of age.

Do you think this could have done it?

How do I fix this? Any idea at all?
That may have caused the corruption. Unfortunately MM, i have never been able to figure out how do fix SD2 files once they go into the "land of unix-executables". Someone else out there might though...good luck!
Thank you OldTimey.

I've messed with these things for 6 months to no avail, but I'll press on. :D

Looks pretty good. Being able to vertically scale the tracks in the Tracks window is awesome.

I really hope that they at least add an option to 'freeze' mixer configuration... in other words, not have all of the mixer channels disappear after visiting the sequence editor. This is the single most frustrating thing to me. I'm sure there are workarounds, but it's just a pain and it seems more of a glitch than a helpful function. Hopefully someone from MOTU is reading these suggestions

Ok. Enough complaining.

So, um. Now that DP6 is coming out, do you all think it will take Waves another two years to catch up? Hell, they should have the final release of the DP5 compatible version out by year's end, don't you think?

i don't mind the separate tracks. very often i have different MIDI channels for one instrument track anyway...
