But I don't know if this fellow actually had anything to do with the design of it or not... so let's not get too excited or too flustered.

and its price will remain unchanged.
Very interesting I didn't think they would drop their price just because of logic

GO MOTU :D

And bring on Broadcast Waves YAY :D

Sounds great! In the past, how has MOTU handled upgrade fees? I was about to get 5.13 so I can upgrade to a Mac Pro. If I pay $200 next week to upgrade to 5.13, would I have to pay another $200 in a couple of months when they release 6.0?

No. I should think it will be a free upgrade for you. Usually the upgrades are free for at least a year.

Usually once an upgrade is announced, new buyers (after official announcement) get a free upgrade when it is released. MOTU honored all upgrade promises for MACH 5 II some two years later. I suspect it will be the same with DP, but don't take my word for it. (and let's hope we don't have to wait two years!)

Thanks for that link rcannonp. Now I have a gripe! How come that thread wasn't in the Digital Performer area!??! I know, I know... theoretical... but I would have been quite interested in taking part in that discussion (13 pages long) and I didn't even know that it existed, because it was in the MOTU Theoretical Discussions, Gripes, Petitions & Off Topic section. I guess I should look around the other areas more often, but I expected that if it had something significant to do with DP that it would be in this Digital Performer section.

Well, I don't know about you guys and girls, but this is the upgrade that I have been waiting for. I'm going to bypass DP5 entirely and go right to DP6.
LA-2A??? Awesome. Convolution Reverb! Awesome! Prerendering of VIs???!!! I'll get more out of my G5!!!

And Broadcast Wave and the extra FCP support just made my day.

Looks like everything that I wanted is happening. I'm assuming a 2nd Quarter 2008 release date. Setting aside my cash now. This will be my first major DP upgrade since 2005!!!

I assure you, that is not what the new GUI looks like.

Oolala, this is so so cool. GUI and VI handling have been enchanced, just what I wanted. Can't wait to try out the convolution verb and leveler.

No. I never have.

I always come straight to the Digital Performer section.
Guess it's time to change my ways.
