Rewire not working in DP
Hi everyone,
I have had Digital Performer for a couple of months and really haven't started using it too much. I just bought a copy of Reason version 4 and I am having problems making the two work together. When I start up DP and then Reason, Reason enters Rewire slave mode, as it is supposed to. When I go into DP, I can take a stereo track and assign the input as the Reason stereo out and then run it to the output as my main outs.
The problem that I am having is that no audio is moving from Reason into DP. When I go into DP and enable input monitor no sound comes out even though Reason is indicating that it is playing and sound is going out but there is no sound coming out of DP. I go into the mixer section and it shows that the input and output are correct, I turn on monitoring and still, no sound is coming in or going out.
I noticed this problem before I bought Reason, but chalked it up to problems with using a demo version of Reason.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Jeremiah

I helped a friend solve the same problem.
I will try to ask him today and post an answer.....
I vaguely remember it having something to do with the busses or something associated.

Re: Rewire not working in DP
I'm totally shooting from the hip here, as it's been a couple of years...
Try creating an aux track in DP rather than an audio track and assign Reason's main outputs as the aux track's input and set the aux track output to valid audio out.

Yes it took me a while to figure it out - so much so when I changed hard drives and had to start again I forgot how to do it. You need an aux track - and input is set to Reason Mix L-R and output to your soundcard. The instruments are from Reason Bus 6 (its always 6 for some reason). Then under Setup/Interapplication MIDI you have to check Software Synthesizer and name it REASON.
That is about it as far as I remember for the DP side of it.

You don't need to set up an aux track or bus. You can use just a regular audio track. Make sure "monitor record enabled tracks through effects " is turned on in DP. Setup->Configure Audio System->Input monitoring mode. Then make sure your input monitor is on also next to the record enable on your track. Should work perfect. I use it all the time this way.

This fixed it...
Thanks to all, both of these did the trick. Just to make sure that I wasn't losing my mind, I created a new file with an aux track, set it as you recommended and I got sound out right away. I disabled that track and added a stereo audio track and tried the same thing. I had to change one aspect which was to choose "Monitor record-enabled tracks through effects" from the Input Monitor Mode, which wasn't selected before. Now that this problem's fixed, I guess I'll get back to writing
.
Thanks again,
Jeremiah

What's the advantage of this over aux tracks?

You can use the same track for recording and monitoring, and you don't need the extra aux track.Guitar Gaz wrote:You don't need to set up an aux track or bus. You can use just a regular audio track.
