ultralite +4dB/-10dB question

Post by ptrx »

hey all,

it reads in the ultralite's specs that you can switch the input level between +4 and -10 dB (pro/consumer level), but HOW DO YOU DO THAT????

while recording drums through daking preamps into the ultralites line inputs, the level on the pres was quite low, while my inputs were clipping! (the gains in cuemix were right down)

since they say you have an ADDITIONAL gain control, I suppose they're not talking about the gaincontrol in cuemix?? or are they??

I'm a very happy user, but this is something that buggers me...

You can't switch +4/-10. "A typo in the tech notes" if I recall correctly from a MOTU tech support response to my question a few months ago. Gain control is through Cuemix or the controls on the front of the box, including the extra ones on the Mic 1/2 inputs.

thanks,

somewhat misleading though, don't you think?.

guess i'll do a proper test to see exactly how those inputs are calibrated.. but seeing those levels differ between the motu and the Dakings worries me.

So if I turn up the trim controls on the Ultralite by 14 will that be the same as changing from +4 to -10dB?
