Mew Mac Pro 8-Core

Post by pagano »

Hi all,

as you will see here -http://www.apple.com/macpro/) Apple is selling the new Mac Pro 8-core. But i'm worried about Motu cause Apple company offers a product (logic) designed and optimised for its machines. At the moment Motu cannot propose the same evolution and maybe Developers can't do the same evolutions after many months. So Mister Motu what are doing??

Leopard is a great operating system but at the moment only a few software editors can confirm that they are fully compatible with it. Logic is going to take the head of the market (also because Logic is sold at a very attractive price). Someone who'is working with Logic can work easier with logic than me with DP ( Virtual instruments DP consume a lot of resources respect other sequencer like Logic or Cubase). And I bought some Audio plug ins on DP who did not works properly at all while on other platforms (like logic, cubase or protools) they worked very well.
Do i have to think that MOTU is no longer able to go on compared with the competition? Obviously I am compelled to note that DP is not up to the competitor products.
Apple may propose some dream machine, I could never enjoy it because MOTU with DP is not able to propose a program that takes advantage of technological advances that offers apple. It is with sadness that I must point out that my friends

The Logic/Mac alliance has been quite an active subject for some time.

What people have discovered is that as a DAW, Logic 8 has it's own limits, and it hasn't lived up to being the DAW killer it was rumored to be. Some commonly used features such as MTC and multi-timbrel VI use are problematic in Logic but still quite simple in DP.

But there's no doubt: as OSX and Mac hardware make important advances that MOTU can't allow DP to lag in the way that hardware is used. PCIe2 alone would bring hope that more powerful audio cards might be in the picture. The promise of 64-bit threading is something else that can't lag behind for too long. For as fast as CPUs, busses, and caches are now, these can't continue to serve as the only reasons why DP runs better.

But, it will take more time for all of this to come around. Users will make the decisions ultimately. If patience with MOTU development is more important than anything else, DP has little to worry about.

There's another side to this argument which I'd rather withhold for now. Let's just say that we're still a long way from Doomsday.

Looked at the new Mac. Pro's all of them are faster and 8 core, yum.

Frodo you are right " watch out for that tree ". I found a tree branch under the snow yesterday it hooked my ski and I went flying; now my ankle is sore. Last year I hit one and my ribs hurt for 6 weeks or more. I had better stay off of flying scooters and look out for Jedi.
