Digital Spark in DP and 003 audio interface

Post by leeahegg »

Hey there! I need help!

I 'm experience with the digital spark. When I using the Digi003 as my audio interface with the DP (both in version 4.61 and 5.12). I always hear a spark in my monitor. I think it may the problem of the synchronization in between the DP and 003. But I don't know how to solve this problem!

Can anyone help me!?

Sounds serious. Have you contacted MOTU tech support?

(Maybe the system is TOO snappy?) :)

But the digidesign tech. support, told me that it may be the DP is not well communicate with 003, possibly is the synchronization problem.......

So, I really want someone can told me how to improve the synchronization between the DP and 003! I have set the clock is internal both in the DP and the digi coreaudio manager!

Thank you for anyone who have read this topics!

What do you mean by "sparks"? There have been numerous threads here on noise called crackles, clicks, pops, static, etc. Sources for the noise seems to be varied. Do a search on these words. I had a similar problem with my Apogee unit and the problem turned out to be firewire related. It seems as though the problem is gone in Leopard.

I think this pops sound! but I 'm not sure!
The sound like "pops", I can read this in the meter of the DP.... it's reach red indicator! Normally, when I start to playback, it's pops....... During the playback time, it's pops.... but randomly....... not in a fixed location!

Actually, I have try to increase the H/W buffer from 64 to 1024...... the sound is still here!

Mr. MIDI Life crisis, actually, I have wait or maybe I need some time to clarify where is the problem comes from...... the problem is 003? or software problem DP? If it comes from Digi..... maybe I need to change a new one!

I am having the same issue when trying to record into dp with 003 lightpipe.
I've tried inreasing/decreasing buffer size with no luck.

Hi there,

I have the same problem with my Apogee Ensemble too ! It sounds like pink noise doesn't it? I thought it was coming from the clock of my RME ADI-8 Pro but even in internal clock it did happen. I'm still trying to find out where it is coming from. May be the buffer size but I'm not sure about that,

Hey there!

I have fixed this problem..... sound weird to you all may be! Cause I have got a new one to replace and fix this problem.

but I sure about this problem is come form digi003 (if you are using the digi 003). Because they have a series of product in 003 are occurred the same problem like me. The pops noise is coming form the input 3-8.

If you are using the dig003 and have the problem, I think you are better contract your local dealer. And update your software to Protools LE Ver. 7.4 cs3. The latest updater can fixed some noise coming form the input 3-8. For details, you may have to visit the digi webpage.

If you are not using 003 as your audio interface, I think I pretty sure you are experienced a problem of sync and clock. Maybe your internal clock as well.

But I pretty sure that is nothing about your hardware buffer size setting!

Digidesign says that if you have ProTools installed on your system, you're not supposed to update to the latest Standalone Core Audio Driver (7.4).

However, this is the only way I've gotten DP to communicate succesfully with a number of Digi interfaces. Pro Tools LE still seems to work fine after doing this, too.

Try it at your own risk....it worked for me.
