Here's where to talk about preamps, cables, microphones, monitors, etc.

8pre for tracking from keyboard?

Post by awinn002 »

I have a triton and want to run my 6 outs to the ins on an 8pre. Is there a way to bypass the pres on this thing or will I be stuck having the sounds from the triton being amplified? Should I trade it in for an ultralite since it has dedicated trs ins?

The 8pre has the neutrik connectors on it...you should be able to plug in a bal/unbal 1/4 cable into the input and run it at line level.

You'll still need to adjust the input gain...I use mine in a simlar fashion...I have a Focusrite Voice Master Pro...Use the -10db 1/4 out to the 8pre in 1/4 input.

thanks for the quick reply. So basically i cut the pre all the way down on the pre8 and cut up the volume on the triton?

Well actually the gain still works on the line inputs, it's just not preamp gain. The output volume from the Triton is not as hot as some other keyboards, so it will certainly benefit from having better gainstage on the A/D side first...
Thank you,
