DP can't see line in - RESOLVED

Post by danielhuw »

I'm using a MacBook and DP5.12. I can use the Mac's line out, but DP won't let me use the MacBook's line in. It doesn't appear as an option in the audio bundles window. This isn't a hardware problem, as GarageBand works perfectly using the line in. Any thoughts?

Did you try to create a new input bundle?

If GB is working, then it's probably not an Audio-MIDI settings issue. Just the same, check Audio-MIDI settings to make sure that the default input is active.

As a precaution look under System Preferences> Hardware> Sound to make sure that the default input is set there as well.

Back to DP, make sure you have your audio track on "input". There will be a track column with a gray speaker icon. Click on it to activate it and it will turn blue.

Just a few guesses...

Remember In DP's hardware setup to shift-click on both Built-in Input and Built-In Output at the same time, otherwise you only get one or the other

kind regards

When you go to OS X's System Preferences/Sound, do you see the Line In and Digital In on the input tab's list? I can't imagine why you would not be getting them properly in DP. Perhaps you need to install the latest drivers. For that matter, you may need to install the latest version of DP: 5.13. Most people found 5.12 to be quite buggy.

That did it. Thankyou all for your replies, much appreciated.

BTW... I'm the original poster. I tried to change my email address profile after I posted, and was suddenly not welcome anymore!

Thanks again.

This has come up a few times before. I guess that while DP recognises drivers for interfaces that have both ins and outs, it sees the built-ins as separate components. Shift-clicking allows you to access more than one interface at the same time as well, as in my Mbox2 and Traveler.

kind regards

What happened Dan? There are certain email domains that spammers were using to validate memberships before posting and I had to ban some of them. You probably tried to change your email address to one of the banned domains.

I can go in and change it back for you. googlemail was one of the domains that I had tons of spammers signing up with and then posting graphic porn spam. I had to ban that domain.

That's kind of you, James. I'd only be changing it to the address I'm now using, so don't worry about changing the old one.
