Hmm, is it only necessary (or recommended) to remove other Powercore installs if you have a beta on your system, or also if you have the older version (pre-Universal Binary)?
The beta of the UB version wreaked such havoc on my system that I uninstalled it right away and reinstalled the final update to the non-UB version. I never even got to see the revised GUI's for the plugs!
How come they didn't send an email out to their registered users? I don't have time to check dozens of websites on a regular basis on the off chance there might be updates. Most vendors alert their user base.
So I guess now I have to search their website for minimum system requirements. If they're too high, then it's kind of pointless. But of course I'm mostly interested ina few boutique plug-ins unique to Powercore (though I am going to evaluate Sonalksis this weekend -- especially with the new discounts -- as I have read a lot about them being a good substitute for MD3, alongside some other choice plugs to complement the picture).
It's also confusing how TC chose to only update the GUI's for a few of the plugs but not others. This haphazard apporoach is one of the reasons it has been an unstable and unpredictable platform for many. One example is the Harmony plug-in that still doesn't work for most of us.
I think I will wait this one out a bit and see what sorts of experiences people have with different systems, configurations, etc. The fact that they pulled it shortly after posting it does not give much confidence. I'm also wondering why they recently deleted the back history on their forums so that they all start with November 2007 posts now. Unless there's an archive somewhere of the older stuff and I missed it.

Prior to November 2007 the official PoCo forums didn't exist. There was only the noheaven forum (now closed for posting) which, over the past year, became Viagra Central ("Our pills will make you rock hard!!!" ••“ yeah, well, cement powder does tend to have that effect).mhschmieder wrote:I'm also wondering why they recently deleted the back history on their forums so that they all start with November 2007 posts now. Kind regards.

Thanks for the reminder (about the spam). I didn't know it wasn't an official forum at the time, and only checked it about once every four to sixs weeks, but do remember now that there seemed to be an upcreep in the amount of spam hitting it back in October.
At least it's good to know that TC isn't deliberately trying to erase history of ongoing problems

I just downloaded and installed the latest versions and the PowerCoreCL and PowerCoreCL Mono did not pass validation with DP 5.13 / Leopard. Anybody else have this problem?

Deleted the AU cache and now add the 247 Compressor to the list that crashed the AU validation. Nice. That 2nd UAD card is calling my name and the PoCo is gonna go on eBay or something...

The first time I installed it, the PowerCoreCL Stereo failed validation. I then re-installed and included the optional plug-ins (even though I can't run them), everything worked after that. I then just deleted all the optional/demo plug-ins from the components folder.James Steele wrote:I just downloaded and installed the latest versions and the PowerCoreCL and PowerCoreCL Mono did not pass validation with DP 5.13 / Leopard. Thanks! I'll give that a try right now and install the optional plugs, delete the AU validation cache, and try it again.Mr_Clifford wrote:The first time I installed it, the PowerCoreCL Stereo failed validation. Your experiences with PoCo are conforming to an eerily familiar pattern, Jimbo... that which I experienced.
For some strange reason, with many versions of the PoCo software, I found I couldn't remove the demos without losing the functionality of some or all of my legit plugs.
Very frustrating, it was, especially since I couldn't affort the extra plugs but still wanted to at least feel like I'd purchased (and how expensive that was!) a complete product, and that my plug arsenal wasn't at best glaringly wanting.

DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU.....
Followed all your advice on here, installed the newest download of the Powercore software...opened DP and two of the plug ins crashed.
Thank you TC Works for creating years of totally buggy software, and refusing to listen yet again to your customers. If other companies can fix their software, why can't you?
Also, they've now completely ignored me on a transfer . A guy in China bought my previous two cards on Ebay, and while they transfered the core plug ins, they just have ignored SIX emails asking them to transfer the vocoder plug in. Unbelievable. I'm probably blacklisted now after threatening them with the European Consumer rights group.
Too bad, because the plug ins that DO work are great, but really, if we bought a car with so many problems, we'd get our money back for sure.
Maybe we should get together a petition to get TC Works to take this seriously? I mean, do we REALLY HAVE TO tell a company what's best for them -- paying attention to their consumers?
Boggles the mind!

Well... I ran the installer again but this time installed the option plugs-- none of which I use-- and 24/7, and PowerCoreCL both passed AU validation this time! Good to know!
I'm trying to decide whether I want to keep this or put it on eBay. It's an Element card and I paid $100 for it. I think I could probably still flip it for about the same as I paid for it.
I have given a closer listen to ClassicVerb which our HopiWay buddy swears by and I have to agree it sounds nice. Everything seems to be working including the PowerCore 01 which isn't supposed to on my Element card is it?
One gets the impression the TC software is flakey. I have a very good friend who when I told him I bought the used PoCo Element chastised me as he claimed he had all sorts of system instability until he banished it from his machine.

It's always felt flakey to me, James.
You do realise it doubles your total system throughput latency, don't you?
Bung a plug onto a live input or send and voila.
I've always liked the DeNoise plug as well as ClassicVerb.
I especially appreciated CV's choice of spacial algorithms.
When it comes down to it, Hellcat's right - TC really does make you feel kinda like a Waves customer.

After 6 months of trying to get the PCI-e POCO card to work with my Intel-MacPro, it finally worked with the new v3 update. So far, so good, although I'm waiting for the crashes to start (what a pessimist!!)....
When I was using my old POCO card in my old G5, it was completely solid for a couple of years - no issues whatsoever. I'm hoping that v3 will bring that same stability to the Intel platform.
