If you really need only to mirror one monitor , I must say he is right .
But what do you need to mirror exactly in DP ?
I must admit I did not read your needs correctly .
So you are in a situation that you are two persons looking at the monitors , right ?
Then , I guess , you need a second graphic card .

Hello Dallas,
Thank you for contacting Matrox.
Our internal add-in cards do support the clone feature however our GXM products such as the DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go do not support this specific feature. The reason being is that when the two or three monitors are connected to the device, the system views the monitors as one large extended desktop. Our internal graphics cards do not have Mac drivers therefore if you would like to investigate further on which internal graphics card would be best suited for your set-up you would consequently have to switch to a PC. If your set-up is versatile and you can switch to PC, can you provide me with the following information: the types of applications you will be working with, the available expansion slots on your PC, and the required resolution of your monitors. This will allow me to make a solid product recommendation.

Message: I have a PowerPC Dual 2.0 first generation MAC G5. I have the original video card installed and running 2-17" monitors. I have a recording studio and would like to mirror one of the monitors and send that feed to an LCD inside the vocal isolation booth (about 30feet away). First off ... is this possible? Second off ... what product should I be looking at to purchase? thanks! dallas
iMac 2012 27 ' 3.2 ghz 32 gigs ram OSX 10.9.4 DigitalPerformer 8.7 , MOTU Track 16, MOTU MachFive3.2, Ethno and BPM , Komplete 9, OmniSphere , Trilian and Stylus RMX , Axon mkII and Godin LG .
Switch to pc!!! I know, what a novel idea!
I have 2 monitors up now and I'm thinking of cloning the main monitor (with the tracks overview, sequence overview, movie window, etc) inside my vocal booth so the talent can see the cues, punches, etc.
Might be stupid but have you though about getting an old Iboook running Vine viewer? Might be cheaper and it allows you to control your rig from your booth?
Just my 2 cents...

I couldn't find DVI cables long enough, the G5 is in an isolation box, so
I bought 2 HDMI cables with DVI adapters, works great, much cheaper than DVI Cables, you can get them anywhere

FYI I was in the same boat of needing 3 LCD's, 2 on the main DAW work station and one 24" LCD on the Sony 3036 console so I got the only (with out writing my own drivers or reinventing the wheel) PCI video card, ATI Radeon 9600, that was listed to work in an older 2x1.8 G5 MAC.
If any one has had success with putting in a 2nd video card in an older g5 I am all ears.
Unfortunately it seems that the bandwidth this card takes from the PCI bus and from the 424 card causes clicking and noise artifacts in the audio playback and recording. Even bussing iTunes out the 424 verses built in I get click crackle pop. Move a window around while playing and it is even more apparent.
I will try putting the 424 card and Radeon 9600 different slots but, if any one has had success with putting in a 2nd video card in an older g5 I am all ears.
I may just go the route of mirroring one or both existing LCD's on the sony meter bridge - net result is sometimes we need to see MOTU from both spots / work stations in the control room.
I'm not sure people are understanding why i/we need a third monitor .... its to be placed in a remote location to be able to see punch in points, video references, transport controls, etc. ... not just for real estate for more windows.
Just an update to my previous reply about crackles when I added a 2nd PCI ATI video card to an older 2x1.8 G5. Moved the 424 card to slot 4 and the ATI to slot 2 and it is fine. FYI monitors:
