Sonnet Tempo SATA Express 34 with Mac Book Pro?

Post by stephentayler »

Anyone using the Sonnet Tempo SATA Express 34 card with a MacBook Pro? Is it reliable and secure? I am using a Lacie Quad Drive that has Tiger, DP and ProTools (I have Leopard on the internal) but would like to free up the FW ports. I am hoping that the esata port will be usable for the bootable system drive.

This drive also has a partition for Time Machine when I am using Leopard, will that function through esata?

Any info or thoughts would be most gratefully received!!

Thanks, and kind regards

Stephen

BTW PT 7.4 is running beautifully (talk about snappy!!) on this combo, especially since I loaded the Music Production Toolkit to prep some sessions for my current mixing project

I don't have experience with that model, but I have been using the WiebeTech 2 eSATAII express/34 card with no problems at all.

I really like WiebeTech. Their stuff is very reliable and they have been good about answering questions when I've contacted them.

oops missed the part about booting.

The bad news - Macs won't boot from an eSATA drive.

Thank you so much for the info, I may have wasted time due to that as my PT/Tiger setup is on the external, and I am on a tight schedule!

kind regards
