documentation for MIDI Express (XP, parallel)
I just acquired an older MIDI Express (parallel) for use on an XP system. Still waiting to acquire a cable to connect it to the laptop, but in the meantime I would like to find documentation on this box for review. where can I find any/all documentation for it? (I have the drivers from MOTU website, but documentation was not there)

Hi pglenn
Just wondered if you had your parallel express xt running yet. I've had one for about a year, with problems back and forth - I know the unit is working, but trying to get it to talk to the pc [XP home] is a very hit and miss story.
Re: your situation, I have the user's guide [hard copy] - while it's not pdf, if there's anything particular you want to check, let me know.
How have you got on? Cable? XP driver?

Would you mind sharing how you did it ?pglenn wrote:I have been able to get it working via parallel cable on 2 different laptops, and have been able to work with multiple MIDI controllers without any issues.
Also, reepeating the OPs question, does anyone have documentation ?
I'm not going to use mine for any DAW work, so it's not imparitive that it shows up as a MIDI port in or out in Sonar.
What I DO need to do is program the presets, so I can get all of my hardware talking.
I'm a noob here, BTW.
Thanks in Advance !

Hi guys,
Just to add weight to last comment, still can't get to a logical explanation why I can't get the motu unit to talk to the PC.
Does anyone have any magic solutions - I don't mind a bit of juju but I'm getting to the stage where I'm giving up and hunting for a midex 8.
Also as mentioned previously, the manual was half PC, half MAC, so only one half applies. To add to that, the documentation is only really relative to Win95 and 98. For the XP driver and clockworks, there is no direct control face as there was in Win95/98. Using Clockworks, you control it all from there. However, within cubase, the idea is that you can see [and edit] all the 8 ports as MXPT1-8. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm slightly wrong - I'm trying to remember what it looked like from about a year ago when the motu and the XP PC were last friends ...
The MOTU website stipulates that it is important which order you load the software and connect the unit to the parallel port. I've tried everything, and it still comes up with PC Flyer Port A/B. Aaagh!
