Muting unpitched segements when using PureDSP

Post by guyreilly »

Hey everybody, I got stuck here.

I am trying to record some vocals of myself (eeek!) so naturally I started using the Quantize Pitch command!!

It was surprisingly easy and effective on my vocals, but I am left with a question-

See the nifty grey parts where there is my silibance and breaths? I would like to mute or at least reduce the gain on all of those. With a few clicks. Is there any way to do that, or should I do it the old fashion, painstaking approach of manually editing each breath out?

If there is a way to do this it would be a HUGE time saver!!

You could draw automation volume changes. It's pretty fast. That's how I do it, though it's not really a few clicks.

Or you could try a de-esser plug, but I can't think of one off the top of my head.

Or perhaps there's a preset for the MW compressor that does it. (I'm not in front of DP right now so I can't check.)

Thanks, all of those methods worth fine, I just thought it would be nifty since DP already identified all the non-pitched areas that they could then be easily selected and modified. If this is not the case, please add it in the new version!

That sounds like it could be a handy feature. MOTU doesn't officially monitor this board so please send your suggestion here:
