Don't forget the $39 for the pleasure of an I-Lock. That is the only reason I won't be getting this for Christmas.

I already have an iLok for a number of my plugs so no expense there.

I think Plugsound Pro is a great buy if you're looking for a meat-and-potatoes, jack-of-all-trades VI. I have it (as well as four of its modules) and I use it on every job.

Couple it with the shipped library of a soft sampler like Kontakt or MachFive and you really have a broad, flexible library of sounds.

I'd especially recommend the Synth Anthology and Retro Organs modules. They sound great.

This seems like a no brainer -- the quality of their sounds is great. I have some of their older plugsound volumes and I love them. Plus the sounds load into Mach5 v2 if you need that.

=

To me their main competitor is IK's Sonik Synth 2 -- interestingly they are doing a similar deal -- reduced pricing on the app plus the library:

http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1768

Sonik Tank 2.5 Group Buy. (Group Buy)
$1500 worth of sounds and plug-ins as low as $199 : rush it ends the 30th November! <SNIP> You get: Sonik Synth 2 + Sampletank Engine + 50 unique new Combis + Sonic Reality's exclusive ST 2.5 Bonus Disc + 6 Sonic Reality Expansion Tanks (Piano Collection, Guitar Collection, Bass Collection, Acoustic Drums, Symphony Strings, OmniSynth).

NEW if we reach +200 people enrolled we will add all 6 Capsules in download!
They did reach the 200 plus mark, so that is a fairly big library.

Chris -- can you load PlugSound sounds into Kontakt? I had thought (but was not certain) that PlugSound uses it's own proprietary format for samples, I think a big bundle file with the samples embedded within possibly, and that Kontakt couldn't open the PlugSound samples.

Boy, I'd be much more inclined to get PlugSound if what you seem to be saying here is correct, i.e., that I can open PlugSound samples and sounds in Kontakt 3. Is that correct?

Thanks for letting me know.

No, I don't believe you can load Plugsound Pro sounds into Kontakt without cracking the software. Sorry if I gave you that impression. Poor wording on my part. I edited my above post to be clearer.

What I meant to convey is that the Plugsound library of sounds are well-complemented by other libraries like Kontakt's. The two libraries together cover a lot of instrumental ground.

Thanks so much, Chris, for the clear and prompt reply. I appreciate it, man. I was inclined to think what you were saying was what you had intended, and that was the main meaning it conveyed to me, but I also saw that possible other latent meaning and just wanted to make sure, for the reason I said about being psyched to get it if I could use it's sounds in K3 -- so I just wanted to check. Thanks for nailing it down so quick for me.

This makes me want to sell my effin Trilogy and Atmosphere and start to finally make some music :?

EDIT

Ok, I think I'll take my chances with the wrapper for the time being after reading this thread http://www.gearslutz.com/board/new-prod ... -here.html

Excellent participation from Eric Persing.

Patricio,
whats your opinion of PSP vs ST? For the $$ for PSP I might be willing shell out for better bass and drums.

I'm a little confused- I bought Mach5 V2 and the first DVD disk with 8 gigs of sounds looks exactly like the PlugsoundsPro library, for sale now at $99. Is this true or am I misunderstanding something?
