major 24 !/O problems HELP PLEASE!!!

We are tracking this record and all of a sudden the 24 I/O just starts making a horrible noise - sawtooth with hum and little output. The Computer sees the interface still, and the program acts completely normal. But there is this totally unusable sound coming off of the 24 I/O. We have our friends in New Jersey send us another one because MOTU won't even give us the benefit of the doubt that it's broken. So, the first one's off to MOTU, the second one arrives, we pluig it in, and it's not even recognized by the computer. So, we get a third one borrowed to us. It arrived today. We plugged it in, the computer sees it, but recently recorded tracks (tracks recorded with the first 24 I/O) are all coming back distorted sounding. I know you might ask me the simple questions, but I assure you this isn't something simple like sample rate compatability. Please, if you've encountered a similar issue reply!!!! Thanks.

Did you try plugging the cable into another port on the card? Also, what about a different cable.

You don't have an output connected to an input that loops back on itself do you? Make certain that the card is seated properly in the computer. Drivers up to date. Check the cue-mix as this could be the source of feedback problems.
