My band is going into a studio in january, and the studio uses 1" tape. The engineer just set up his mac, but he's using pro tools. When he imports the tape into pro tools, what is the best way for him to export that project so I can use it in DP 5.13? I have never used pro tools, so I am not familiar with what options are best to use. is it OMF? That seems to be what the manual for 5.1 is talking about, but I didn't know if there are other/better options.
Thanks folks!

Just ask him to consolidate each take you want to keep. Then you can just drag the wav files into an open DP file and they will convert to SD2 and even create track names from the wav file names.
OMF is great in theory but doesn't always work.

As Mark Walmsley said, the best way is just to consolodate each track in PT and then pull them into DP (you can even get it to put everything to its original timestamp), BUT be aware of spending lots of studio $$$ sitting on Pro Tools editing the takes together ready to be exported. My Digi 002r has more than paid for itself in editing time over the last few years than I was able to do at home instead of paying studio time.
Now that Digi offers the M-Box micro, for a few hundred dollars you can have a Pro Tools edit system for studio compatibility.
Either that or see if the engineer will run DP in DAE mode for the transfer from Tape (you'd probably have to install your own authorized version of DP, and then remove it again after you've finished working with him).

yeah
I normally have my clients tell the studio they need only the files being used, consolidated and properly named. If all files start at zero that's a plus just in case there is a problem. It is also nice if a click was used to know the tempo of the project.
I bought an Mbox 2 Pro just in case I had problems... only had to use it once.
I am in the Philly area so if you run into a problem or need a hand let me know... I do stuff like this all the time.

I just checked out your website... I'm really close to you... let me know if you need a hand... I also have a lot of bands in and out of here that might like to use your services.
