8Pre Won't Turn ON

Post by haigashod »

I've been using the 8pre for the last couple months and everything was going smoothly.

Problem: I turn on the unit and it goes through the flashing lights sequence on the 'analog in' section. (owners, know what i mean?) anyway, instead of the unit stabilizing on the clock source, converter, etc.... it looks like it loses a bit of juice and goes right back to the initial bootup 'flashing lights' sequence. I've tried dozens of things to troubleshoot such as hold down the volume knob on startup, and after startup, different power outlets... I know the issue is not related to my mac because it doesnt need to be interfacing with anything to act as a preamp... IT JUST DOESNT TURN ON

If anyone's had this problem and knows a solution you will become the most popular person in my lifetime.

cheers

Someone here had posted about some problem they had with their 8pre. They said that they had called MOTU and MOTU talked them through some kind of reset procedure for the thing, although he didn't mention what the exact reset procedure was. Here's the link: http://www.unicornation.com/phpBB2/view ... p?p=141146

Don't know if that helps, but maybe if you can find out how to do the reset procedure it might help?
