What you want to do is to install DP 5.13 in Leopard. Previous versions are not certified to work, although people have had success with 5.11 (but not 5.12) in Leopard.
If you are using a version of DP5, put your DP5 installer CD in the driver. There will be an option for Easy Install in a sticky menu. The second option in that sticky menu is Uninstall. Choose the Uninstall option, and click okay.
Having the DP install disc is crucial, not only for uninstalling an outdated version but also for authorizing DP newly installed on a clean operating system.
1. Leave your CD ROM in the hard drive.
2. Download DP 5.13 from MOTU's website
3. Install 5.13
4. At some point during or after installation you will need your DP Key Code found on the last page of your manual. This code must be entered with the DP5 CD ROM in the drive, even though you will not use the DP5 CD ROM during the 5.13 installation process.
You should also have a Digital Performer Install Log file on your computer (if it hasn't been trashed). This will be located in User Library> Logs> DP5.xx Install Log. This document will contain all the files that were placed in various places on your hard drive during the installation process.

Thanks, rcannonp. Good catch.rcannonp wrote:This is from MOTU's website.
An existing DP 5.12 complete install is required for the 5.13 updater (i.e. the 5.13 updater is not a complete install).
The one thiing that would have been nice to know is what version mypolloni installed which failed and on what CPU model. If he'd started with any DP version *from disc* then updating to 5.13 shouldn't have been as much of a problem.
But you are correct-- if he's uninstalling a previous version, doing just the 5.13 install will probably not work.
My bad.

From the original post, I get the idea that the problems came with using DP after the installation, not with the installation. If that's the case then simply running the 5.13 installer over what's already there should straighten things out. Though, I'm not sure if 5.13 has to be installed over 5.12, or if installing it over 5.11 will work.
