stand alone cracks on ch1

Post by mke52 »

my traveler , disconected completely and therefore standalone, has cracks on ch 1 input. you see them on the led meter.
I'm afraid it's a HW issue...
Has anyone had the same experience?

I think the general feeling is that the Traveler is a loser. I have one and my noise is on ch 2. Just like yours. You can see the LEDs just jump all over the place in spurts.

I like the concept of the box but I'm afraid I'm out 800 bucks on a partially usuable piece of hardware. I've not been terribly happy with mine.

MOTU of course is pretty unsympathetic, taking a "you bought it, you're stuck with it - unless you want to send us more money" approach

If I ever get back into recording again, I'll have to look for another front end.

I had a noisy ch1, but sent in the unit, and the new one's good. I'm going to get it modded by Black Lion

Thanks for your replies, i agree that Traveler has some serious hw design problems, i had to changre three before finding one that works...
i'll send it into service and see what happens.

I think it's the classic case in which a cost reduction design just went a bit too far...
