I‘m just trying to make it work! I‘m working under MacIntel and Windows/Bootcamp, so I don‘t recieve any answer from MOTU‘s support but "we don‘t support MOTU devices under Bootcamp", and instructions make a hard work to know how to do it!
I would like to monitor the second 896hd thru the master outputs (which are in the master 896hd), but I have no idea about how to do it!!!!. When I start the CueMix console I only can see each 896hd separately, and no as only one CueMix with 16 audio inputs.
Could anyone help me???????
Thanks!!!

there is not real way to do what you are ... I really am not at all impressed with MOTU's useless tech support... these a forums are only kind-of helpful.
You can bus your 2nd Motu's mix to either the AES/EBU or ADAT, and use those to mix them into the First Motu.
Its pretty pathetic the whole motu sitituation.
I am most likely going to sell both my 896hd's and try some different interfaces.
The Focusrite 26 i/o's look nice... havent seen any real reviews on them, but the pre's are gonna be better, and they are only 1U, no real meters, but they are 600-700$... vs 995 for the MOTU's
I am going to try and find a location that I can try to user 2 or three of these 26 i/o's and see if they are any better...
Alan.

Alan,
I picked up a 26 I/O and it is awesome!! The meter thing sucks, but the pre's are great...You can indeed run multiples together and are managed thru the software...Infact the 26 I/O can all be completely managed via the software...its pretty cool.
I have my 8pre synced via ADAT. Another cool thing is that you can have another device off the other set of ADAT...So 16 total channels at 44k or 8 if you use SMUX.
I actually think the 8Pre pre's sound better thru the Focusrite converters...they are much more crisp IMO than when I had it setup via firewire...
Mackie has the Onyx 1200F - has 12 pre's, headphone management and SMUX ADAT connectivity for about $1500. 2U space...Seems pretty nice, but a its very new still. I've heard good things about the mackie pre's but I dont know how good their converters are...
