Nashville File Transfer (Unusual Method?)

Post by buzzsmith »

Just had a lady leave who brought over an *Internal* ATA 133 Drive with her Nashville project on it (looks like basic Karaoke-track and vocals from the track sheet)

Isn't this a bit unusual?...Most of the transfers I get from various studios are either on DVDs or External FW drives.

2nd question...am I risking damage to her drive or my computer by attempting to hook up her drive to an available 66 bus, since my primary internal audio drive is already on the 133 bus, and I really don't want to disconnect it.

Left a message for the engineer in Nashville to query him on alternative ways to send me this lady's files.

Thanks!

That is weird. Wonder why they didn't use a DVD or firewire drive also. Or why then didn't send you the files via sendpace, yousendit, ect.

Dunno about the drives...maybe the guy in Music City will call me today...the project was recorded back in January, so the online file transfers probably wern't even discussed.

If it were me I would put the drive in a firewire case.

I usually have an extra one laying around. Weird I know.

Something like this:

Maybe you already have a firewire drive that you could swap disks with long enough to do the transfer.

(P.S. now that I think about it I have temporarily connected ATA100 drives to the ATA66 bus in my G4 sawtooth machine w/o mishap)

You might also try a USB to IDE converter. You can find them for around $30.
