VISTA drivers now working great!
I've seen several folks reporting no sound output from a Vista PC to a MOTU unit. I had this problem with an 8Pre, but I also saw similar reports from users of all MOTU hardware, suggesting a driver problem. As others have done, I traced the problem to the amount of RAM in my system.
My setup is 2 quad-core CPUs running Vista-64 with 8 gigabytes of ram.
Today MOTU tech released a beta firewire audio driver to me, and all the problems were instantly solved. I prefer SONAR, but other software packages also now are working perfectly.
The beta audio driver has a date of 10/10/2007 and shows up in my system as driver version 3.6.9.190. I have only been working with it for a short time, but have found no glitches thus far.
Thank you, MOTU !!

r there beta drivers for vista x32, im getting audio drop outs in all audio application fairly randomally, occasional audio popping and blue screen crashes with the message referring to 'motufwu.sys' ...it is a motu 828mkII usb with the official vista driver dated for jan 2007 as on the website for motu.
im hoping this is a driver issue and not the hardware, anyone else experiencing similar probs. i setup a techlink last thursday but theres been no response so far and time is running out b4 i can get a full rfnd.

OK, to reiterate: I am happily running MOTU beta drivers in Vista-64. I am also running Sonar-64. I have 8 Gigs of RAM, and I am happy as a clam!
These are NOT the same drivers you can just download from the site -- you have to open a tech request and make a clear statement of your problem, and tell them that you want to try the beta drivers for Vista64.
If your problem is one that may have been resolved with the beta drivers, they will send you a link and other information necessary to download the beta drivers.
Good luck!
