2408 mk3 high pitch noise...

Post by jackballed »

I have the 2408 mk3 plugged into a Mac Pro 8-core thru the 424-PCIx card and I'm getting a really high pitched tone in my recordings. When I playback the MIDI sampled instruments I'm using I don't hear the tone. But when I record it to a audio track (or bounce it), that's when I hear the tone. I thought it might have been the PC I'm using coming into the 2408 via lightpipe but I tried just instruments in my Mac and it still occurred. If it matters, I'm using Logic 8. So I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem or know what is causing it?

Thanks for the help!

Hi Jack, if you record nothing, do you see it in the waveform?? Need to sort out if it's internal computer, or something you're feeding to it. The only thing this reminds me of is a plug in that is in demo mode and beeping... possibly a feedback loop somewhere???

Okay, I figured it out...thanks for all the help though!!

I'm sure everyone's going to be saying "why??" So I have PCs going into my 2408 digitally but I have the 2408 going out to an analog board - yes, that's where the problem was. Only reason I didn't think that before was I used to have a 828mkII on my rig and never got the high pitched noise. Anyway, thanks for thinking of me.
