Hi,
I would like to draw your attention to a serious iMac hardware issue, that consist on failing LCD‘s (since the G5) that shortly after a year of usage(sometimes even less!) start to develop colored vertical lines from top to bottom 1 or 2 pixels wide. The problem is so sever that on the Apple forums, there are two threads of which I am giving you the links, with lots of users having the same problem.

As you know, the replacement of the iMac LCD is expensive, around $700.00 USD depending on the country and of course, most of the affected people, does NOT have extended warranty service. It seems to be a defective batch of LCDs with certain serial numbers, but so far Apple has refused to acknowledge this problem and therefore honor the affected users with an extension on their warranty for the LCD replacement.
Thanks

I guess it can be very difficult to maintain quality control when your manufacturer is half a world away. Just ask Mattel.
