New Mac Intel Chips with 1666 buss speeds
Finally now Apple has figured out what's important with this new Intel quad chip and they are hoarding the product this article claims:

Thank you for sharing that, Gary.
November 11 sounds good to me; that should mean the new Mac Pros will be out by the end of January.
I hope.
Then again, the source hasn't the best track record...

Yea M I've been waiting for a year but maybe after the new OS I'l finally make the leap. Throughput is a major requirement for us and for me especially using multipal SCSI 15k drives. Will be upgrading two cards as well, Scsi and UAD1 so it's a big expense.
I hoped Apple might drop the machine price a bit but it looks like they are going to be more due to the facts the chips are 1000 each x 2.
Also thanks for the reply on the TC interface

Of course; I forgot you were in the same boat as me in that you're waiting for the next gen. Macs to come out.
It's been quite a wait here too, in fact I think it's about 2 years now since the Mac Pro was released.
I wouldn't worry too much about the chip price.
Firstly, there's the questionable source.
Then there's the fact that Apple will no doubt do a good deal with Intel on 'em; they'll expect to sell mucho quantity.
Further, who is this source to say what Apple will pay? I'd say only Apple and Intel will know initially anyway.
When one considers the BlueRay thing though, the price could end up blowing out a little.
What I'd love to know, is when are these things coming out?
I've got a 424-X card to sell and the PoCo...

I did read it initially, Gary, but still am none the wiser on this.
I'll just sit back and try to read between the lines.

I've given up on reading between the lines with Apple this year. Everything they have done so far this year has taken me by surprise, both in terms of their priorities and the scheduling.
Hasn't there always been a buzz in the past? It makes me think Leopard isn't coming until 2008, and might be a bigger upheavel than first hinted at, with maybe some changes to Core Audio and other stuff to take advantage of 64-bits?
