Sorry Giles, I haven't tried it yet.
When I finally decided to D/L the latest version (I'm on 2.2 I think), the site went all funny on me.
Still looking for the D/L page. LOL
The word is that v3 is on the way in a month or so:

Looks like the update we all wanted more than a year ago.

Sorry, but I couldn't seem to get 2.2 to work on my G4 iMac, so went back to the latest official build of the non-UB version (version 2.0).
I've never seen pictures (and couldn't get the GUI to come up on the beta that I tried), but apparantly the interfaces are being greatly improved for all of the plugs -- though perhaps incrementally, with 2.5 maybe targeted as the "final stability build" for the new versions of the plug-ins?
TC is quite busy these days porting some of their best plug-ins to a variety of new audio interfaces and the like. I have no idea how much any of this work shares in common with the UB port of the traditional Powercore platform, but surely it has some schedule impact at the very least.

Agreed.
It didn't inspire confidence, the fact that TC introduced the whole "K syndrome", dumbed-down-plug-set-and-new-interfaces thing whilst we PoCo customers squirmed in the poo... er... goo that was and has been the PoCo software swamp.

I guess we all somehow missed the huge Powercore announcement at TC Electronic's website:

Brand-new super-powered hardware, and version 3.0 of the softgware.

That new 19" unit appears to have twice the grunt and RAM of the PCI MkII.
Not bad.
I wonder if the new unit still doubles latency.
Perhaps the new software will help.

I didn't have a chance to compare the specs yet, but the free plug-in collection seems the same, and the price is roughly 150% of regular Powercore FW, so if it's twice the power that's a good deal.
I run plug-ins one at a time so don't care about power. Although having said that, I was having trouble running the full restoration suite at once and had to break it out into incremental steps. Probably a good idea anyway, for archival purposes (revisiting one part of the cleanup with a different plug later on, for example, as well as a good documentation of the audio cleanup).
Obviously I'm in the minority, or they wouldn't have bothered releasing this device. And it puts TC in a league of their own, with regards to Firewire Power. Did anyone check to see if it supports FW800?

Oh, OK, so it wasn't just that I was tired...
Yeah, what's up with that? You'd think extra bandwidth would be as important, or more important, than extra power.
Or maybe they want the PCIe to still come out clearly on top (it would anyway) for buss speed and throughput.
Speaking of which, I see they have extended the summer offer on the PCIe card (my apoligies if I'm once again getting PCIe and PXIx confused as to which one stands for eXpress), all the way to the end of December.
Maybe that's for those of us still waiting on Leopard to upgrade to a MacPro from an iMac -).

Good thinking, mhschmieder.
Not sure on the bandwidth thing though 'cause the new unit exactly doubles both processing power and RAM.
