So I downloaded Amplitube Jimi and 2. Jimi sounds better. Guitar rig has lots of choices. Jimi sounded better to my ears a whole. The one thing that bugs me about all of the 3 is when I immediately plug into my amp the sound is better. Guitar rig and Amplitube 2 were very taxing on my ears. Like when there is too much BBE in a mix. I liked the play along tape deck in Jimi for teaching. I'll see if I can get it to run on my 833 10.39 iMac at my teaching studio. Take a moment of silence now as I can see my computer at work needing CPR. (Computer Prayer Request)

And 5 minutes later you'd see the doctors comin in with oxygen mask and taking mr. hendrix to a hosptial for a sudden lethal tocix chock (as If he hadn't had nuff of those in his life..)James Steele wrote:Suddenly I got this funny picture of Jimi Hendrix on stage, pouring lighter fluid on a MacBook and kneeling down and doing that "bring the fire" thing with his hands. Of course you don't hear strings popping when you burn an laptop do you?

The Amplitube 2 presets all have a little too much treble and presense dialed in. But you can easily dial it back. It's really just a matter of moving the knobs - Jimi Hendrix sounds great, no doubt, but it does not have any rectifier amps for modern metal/hard rock - that is where Amplitube 2 comes to the rescue.dosuna11 wrote:So I downloaded Amplitube Jimi and 2. I've given up sparring with guitarists over amp emulations, software or hardware-based - it's like arguing about religion. No point in it. I personally love amp emulators because I'm not stuck with the recorded sound. I'll take them any day of the week over a "real" amp - but that's because I'm producing tracks and need the flexibility. And, I'm not a guitar player.

I understand the studio thing. My line 6 came in handy when I needed to get done quick and get the $'s. The thing is I've owned most of those amps and sold them (Damn) they are trying to emulate. Some are right on some well...David Polich wrote:The Amplitube 2 presets all have a little too much treble and presense dialed in. But you can easily dial it back. The average listener can't tell the difference and when you think of MP3's! Now don't get me started. I had this discussion with Mike Soldano. He was one of my guitar students when he was younger. When the Chinese go digital the amp tube thing will be a very small market. This makes emulation even more important. And here is the clincher, The cost of vintage amps like synths is....... So for $300. you get to have the sound of some very good emulations. Thanks for the tip.
