I am owner of the MachFive 2. I am trying to install the software on my windows XP based pc.
Everything runs smoothly -installation goes ok, the key is perfectly well recognized but right then comes the problem:
Whenever I try to load a sound (by clicking on the "No preset" of any of the 16 channels) the application crashes-I use the stand alone version.
Everything else on the softsampler seems to be working perfectly well (the editor the mixer and so on) but whenever I click on the preset to choose a sound
the application crashes - it just disappears from the screen.
The same happens when I use MachFive as a VST instrument within Cubase SX version 3. When I click on the preset I get an error consulting to restart Cubase.
My PC setup is:
Windows XP Profesional service pack2
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+ 2.6GHz
3 GB RAM
3 Hard disks of 400 GB each
VGA: MSI NX7600 GS (Nvidia GeForce 7600GS) -with the latest drivers
I have also tested the installation with other 2 windows based machines with different composition.
The problem is exactly the same. It occurs whenever I click on the preset button: the application just vanishes and I heve to restart it with no result again.
The other machines are consisted of Intel core 2 Duo E6750 2.66 GHZ processor and Ati vga cards all with the latest drivers.
Also I tested this on my laptop (just for testing reason) a HP Pavilion DV9313EV GH842EA and the result is exact the same.
Please do consult me what to do, otherwise I thing it is best for me to return the software back where I bought it!
Thank you.
Windows xp installation issue

Sorry to not be of any real help, but it does work on my Centrino 2.0 running XP Pro, without any significant problem.
Seems odd that you get the same errors on different machines; perhaps you got a corrupted file in the installer.
Have you installed into the default directories, or did you browse to a custom directory? That messed up my upgrade from 2.0 to 2.01, but a reinstall into the default dirs worked fine.
I assume you've got a technote with Motu tech support, which is the only real thing I can suggest at the moment.

Actually I did download also the installation file from the motu download section but the problem persists. The installation directory I used is the one proposed by the installation (in steinbergs Vsti file). I am running out of solutions....
Thanks anyway for the help.
Is there anybody else here running Mach2 on Xp? Thanks.

ppakko,
I seem to have the same problem as you. I'm running MachFive v2.1 within C4 on a Dell Dimension 8150/WinXP/Intel D930/Intel 945P.
A workaround is to open the browser by double clicking - that still works for me.
I have emailed my dealer and asked if this is a known issue and are awiting their reply. Meanwhile I will also send an email to MOTU tech support. Pls let me know if you are able to solve this problem.
Thanks!
