project file crashes after loading with missing files

Post by Noam »

a - I did not start a new project folder for each song file
-- there where many songs in one project folder ( I know better now)

b- I flushed unused soundfiles while in one song file - deleting them from all songfiles in the project folder at the same time

c- when I go to re-open some of the songfiles I get the missing files box with the 'locate' options.

d-
some files re-opened fine. Others open , show the waveforms etc. and look to be ok - but as soon as I move the mouse I get the spinning beachball of death and the file eventually closes with an error message

e- I am at your mercy Unicornation - thanks in advance - Noam

Can you (File Menu) Load the song into a fresh new file?

Wouldn't be cool if there were a warning like, "Soundbites Are Being Used In Another Sequence - Delete Anyway?" ?

Have a backup, dammit!

Maybe if you set DP for MIDI Only before opening the Project you could get in there and manage things (delete bad soundbites in the SE and Soundbites windows, save individual or groups of tracks as Clippings to rebuild the song one clipping at a time in a fresh file, etc). Back up the project folder first.
