Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but MachFive2 won't open any of the SoundtrackPro Apple Loops on my hard drive with the .caf (Core Audio File) extension - Garageband Loops (which are AIFFs) are fine.
Apple's SoundtrackPro app is pretty good, but I decided to get back into Digital Performer (following an extended break) so upgraded to the latest version, and also purchased MachFive2 at the same time thinking that this would give me a far greater toolset for scoring for video. However, I need to be able to use the surround-sound audio files I currently have on my system.
What am I missing? I'd hate to have to go back to STPro just to browse the loops library, and then export the files I need in another format to use with my MOTU setup.....
Help!!
SoundtrackPro Apple Loops .caf file support?

There's something about that in one of the threads in this forum. I think that it will see the samples, but not the CAF files, or something like that. In other words, if I remember correctly, you will be able to use them, but you have to find them first, and they won't necessarily work exactly the same as they would in Soundtrack Pro. But I may be way off. Since it didn't seem to apply to me, I didn't pay much attention to the first thread. Maybe you can find it.

CAF Apple Loops
I think that .caf as an Apple Loop format is still relatively new. All commercially available Apple Loop collections that I've seen use .aif (as did previous versions of GarageBand) so maybe .caf Apple Loops are not yet supported in M5. Call up MOTU to find out for sure, though.

Thanks Shooshie. I couldn't find any other posts on this....maybe my chosen search criteria were a bit off. Sounds like this is a "mini-disaster" for me though if MachFive2 won't load these files.Shooshie wrote:There's something about that in one of the threads in this forum.
