Dope Combination,DP & Logic Running in sync flawlesly

Post by Akai96 »

This combination is great if anyone decides to try it.I put logic on another mac computer and hooked my MIDI timepieces to both computers simutaniously, and they act just like one machine,it's soooo sick!!I can sequence across both just like one machine,if somthing sounds better on the other I can switch any time, and play the pacific part on that sequencer.
Once again the lock-on is uncanny.

You know, i've thought about doing this a million times. I'm just worried that i would spend all that time setting it up, and never actually do anything in Logic (except use ultrabeat). My thinking was that I could have my third monitor hooked up to another mac running logic, and just use SynergyKVM to connect the keyboards and mouse so it acts like one big screen.

Just curious, but what are you running in Logic that you don't use DP for?

My question too. And is it worth the cost? (Logic isn't exactly cheap!)

The MIDI in logic feels different than in DP, so I have my Modules and samplers hooked to logic and I use Machfive and alot of other VI Instruments in DP,because they sound great that way(at least to me).

I use Logic occasionally, and there is a great MIDI implementation that i always wished MOTU would steal. Being able to select similar note positions, and similar sub-groups is very cool. It basically lets you select, say the downbeat of a measure in a drum part. You can then select similar sub-group and it will automatically select every downbeat in that track. Works the same way for different positions in the measure. Really cool.

That.... and the buffer that remembers everything you play (in case you want to turn it into a take :) )

MOTU debuted that feature in December 1997 in Performer 6 and Digital Performer 2.3. It's still there. It's under "Search" in the Edit menu. And it does much, much more than that. Select by rhythm, position, velocity, note, "similar to", and many other criteria, plus you can layer the criteria for very complex searches. Once you've done it, save your search and the next time you want those criteria, all you have to do is click that saved search in the menu. Can't beat it! Click here and check it out.

PS: that feature was suggested in detail by yours truly for a couple of years, along with many others, and they finally added most of them at that date. Some of the others, like color-coded MIDI tracks sharing a single edit window, would have to wait a few more years. Hey, it's the truth, and I can't help it if modesty is difficult for me. :D

Yep. It's ironic that someone would wish that MOTU would "steal it from Logic," since Logic stole it from MOTU.

Hahahaha! Thats amazing. I love it when I think DP should steal something that Logic already stole from DP! Amazing.
